We want to share with you that running your Community Post Office here in Woodgreen is expected to generate a significant loss next year.
- Operating costs (solely staff costs) will be almost £30k
- Income received likely to be £22k
- Which is forecast to result in a loss of £8k
A few examples of where our income comes from:
- 6% of sales value for 1st class stamps/parcels (3% for 2nd class stamps/parcels)
- 14% of sales value for Special Delivery before 1pm
- £0.30 for every home shopping return (£0.31 for each Amazon return)
- £0.32 for each Amazon order you collect from us
- £0.23 for every cash withdrawal from your bank account
- £0.13 for each cheque deposit to your bank account
- £0.18 for dropping pre-paid parcels with us
- And many more services…
Most Post Offices cannot survive without add-on income; we of course have the shop, however the Post Office uses almost ALL of our annual shop profit.
So please remember any additional services you use the Post Office for supports this valuable Community service.
